The Purple Man is a supervillain appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Created by writer Stan Lee and artist Joe Orlando, the character first appeared in Daredevil #4 (1964). The Purple Man is the alias of Zebediah Killgrave, whose body produces pheromones that give him the ability to control people's minds and actions through verbal suggestion. Initially depicted as a recurring enemy of Daredevil, he later becomes the archenemy of Jessica Jones.
